The auctions have been digitized to ensure a fast, efficient, and transparent implementation process. Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović, emphasizes that this procedure will result in an additional 450 megawatts of green energy for the economy and citizens of Serbia. The implementation of feed-in premiums allows for better cost management and provides comprehensive benefits for the country's energy system.
Investors with the Most Competitive Offers are Given Priority for Incentive Allocation
The quota for wind power plants is set at 400 MW, while the quota for solar power plants is 50 MW. Producers from renewable energy sources can offer a maximum price of 105 euros per megawatt-hour for wind power plants and 90 euros per megawatt-hour for solar power plants. Investors who offer the lowest price compared to the maximum defined price have an advantage in obtaining incentives, which could result in a reduction in electricity costs.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing technical assistance for the development of the legal and regulatory framework for auction implementation, while the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and EBRD shareholders are providing financial support.
The adoption of amendments to the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and accompanying bylaws represented regulatory preparation for auction implementation. Elektromreža Srbije (EMS) and Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) will actively participate in this process to ensure a more secure supply for citizens and the economy. According to estimates, with successful auction implementation, EPS will generate annual revenues of over three million euros, taking into account relevant market prices.
Instructions and applications for participation in the auctions are submitted through the RES Auctions portal (oieaukcije.mre.gov.rs) over the next 60 days, until mid-August of this year.
